The Lagos Country Club has taken a firm step towards restoring peace and stability amidst ongoing leadership disputes. In a decisive move, the court-recognized Caretaker Committee has replaced Mr. Adetayo Adegboye as Secretary, appointing Mr. Kola Olaitan to the role.
According to Chief Kayode Moradeyo, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, the decision became necessary due to Mr. Adegboye’s continued actions without proper authorization. Despite no longer being in office, Mr. Adegboye allegedly issued directives and messages to club members and staff, causing further disruptions.
The leadership crisis began when five members of the legitimate Caretaker Committee declared the committee “illegal” and aligned themselves with an unapproved group. This alternate body, formed after an illegal extraordinary general meeting (EGM) last month, was subsequently disbanded by a Federal High Court ruling. The court directed the group to cease all operations and barred its members from performing any administrative functions.
Chief Moradeyo reassured members that the Caretaker Committee is committed to restoring harmony. He expressed a willingness to reintegrate the dissenting members under specific conditions to rebuild trust. However, he emphasized that any communications from Mr. Adegboye as “Secretary” are invalid and should be ignored.
Members and staff have been urged to report any unauthorized actions or messages from Mr. Adegboye to the Caretaker Committee to maintain order.
Chief Moradeyo closed his statement with a strong commitment to justice, transparency, and the well-being of all members, adding, “Long live the Lagos Country Club, where good things happen.”
