Lagos Country Club Seeks Strategic Partnership With The Guardian toThe Lagos Country Club (LCC) is exploring a strategic partnership with The Guardian as part of its efforts to expand visibility, deepen influence, and build meaningful alliances that reflect its long-standing heritage as a premier family-oriented recreational institution.During a courtesy visit to The Guardian headquarters in Lagos, the Club’s President, Seyi Adewunmi, led a delegation to discuss potential areas of collaboration and highlight the club’s expanding activities, its evolving membership base, and its ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives.Adewunmi praised The Guardian for its pivotal role in national development and its unwavering commitment to balanced journalism and public education. He likened the newspaper’s dedication to truth-telling to the courage demonstrated by military personnel. “Your commitment to balanced, fact-driven reporting is exceptional. Journalists put themselves on the frontline to inform and enlighten the public. We see that same sense of duty reflected in The Guardian’s work,” he said.Founded 76 years ago, the Lagos Country Club remains one of Nigeria’s most respected and enduring recreational establishments. With more than 2,000 active members, the Club prides itself on offering a wholesome, family-friendly environment—distinct from nightlife-focused clubs. It promotes health, networking, sportsmanship, and social cohesion across 10 vibrant sports sections.The Club also runs a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, supporting education by sponsoring school fees for children of deceased members and providing recognition awards to outstanding teachers and students in surrounding communities.Looking ahead, Adewunmi announced that the Club is gearing up for a lineup of major events. These include a large-scale induction of new members on **November 30**, expected to attract nearly 1,000 attendees; a special **Elders’ Night** featuring top table tennis icons such as Quadri Aruna and Bode Abiodun; and a celebratory event honouring members aged 70 and above.
