Business Club Ikeja Launches Inaugural Trade Expo to Drive Growth and Collaboration

The Business Club Ikeja (BCI) has officially launched its first-ever Trade Expo a three-day business exhibition aimed at accelerating growth and addressing the unique needs of enterprises within Ikeja and its surrounding communities.Held at the BCI Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, the event brings together 60 businesses in a vibrant showcase of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Designed to be more than just an exhibition, the platform encourages entrepreneurs to share insights, explore partnerships, and develop practical solutions to common business challenges.During the opening ceremony, Mr. Adetola Okanlawon, Chairman of Revenue at Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), emphasized the pivotal role of businesses in fostering economic growth.

He noted that whether small, medium, or large, businesses form the backbone of a flourishing economy. He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s and Onigbongbo LCDA’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.Highlighting ongoing efforts, Okanlawon mentioned that government initiatives are focused on streamlining processes, strengthening revenue systems, and ensuring business-friendly policies. He urged participating businesses to embrace collaboration and innovation, noting that joint efforts are essential in tackling real-world challenges.

“As we declare this Expo open, let it mark the beginning of deeper collaboration, sustained growth, and increased innovation within our business community,” he said.Dr. Adesola Falaiye, President of BCI, stated that the theme of the expo,“Buy, Sell, Connect”captures its purpose. She explained that the platform was created to enable businesses not only to exhibit their products and services but also to engage, collaborate, and explore mutual opportunities.

She further revealed that strategic partners such as Onigbongbo LCDA and the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry were invited to better understand the real-time challenges and potentials of the local business landscape. According to her, this collaboration is expected to support business development while also benefiting government revenue through increased enterprise activities.Speaking on the long-term vision, Prof. Anthony Kila, Chairman of the BCI Business Expo Organising Committee, announced that the exhibition will become an annual event.

This debut edition was deliberately aligned with BCI’s Annual General Meeting to bring together entrepreneurs, business leaders, and industry experts under one roof.Prof. Kila noted that the primary goal is to create a sustainable platform where businesses can thrive through partnerships, innovation, and shared growth opportunities.With strong stakeholder engagement and promising participation, the BCI Trade Expo sets a new tone for business interaction and advancement in the heart of Lagos.
