Party Members of the Lagos Country Club had a great time on Friday, January 26th, 2024, as King Sunny Ade and his African Beats took to the bandstand at its 2024 New Year Party.The musical icon who has been a constant feature in the Club’s Annual party for several decades again thrilled the members at this year’s party, which took place at the club premises.His Excellency Dr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, who is the Patron of the Cub, was ably represented by the Special Adviser on political and civil engagements, Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen. Other dignitaries in attendance were His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Adegorunshe V, Ayangburen Ikorodu Kingdom who was the Royal Father of the Day, Captains of industries, royal fathers, Honorable James Faleke, a distinguished Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Finance, Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi, Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army and Dr Gabriel Ogbecie, OON, Managing Director/ Chief Executive, Rainoil Group of Companies. It was all fun galore, as club members, invited guests and friends partied all through the night even as sumptuous food and exotic drinks flowed freely.The New Year party, which is the foremost family club’s signature event, was introduced about three decades ago to herald the New Year and enable members to bond in an atmosphere of love and fun.
Welcoming the members to the great event, President of the club, Seyi Adewunmi said the night would be an unforgettable night of celebration, camaraderie, and exceptional entertainment and it ended up that way.He appreciated all the dignitaries for presence and strong community ties. The night, he said, marked not just the beginning of a new year but the continuation of a cherished tradition that has been the heartbeat of the Lagos Country Club for more than three decades. It was a night to indeed remember.“As you are aware, Lagos Country Club is a private, family club devoted to the social well-being of its members.
This event symbolizes more than just a gathering; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of community, the joy of togetherness, and the strength of our bonds as members of this prestigious club.“And what’s a celebration without music to stir our souls? “He admonished members to reflect on the year gone by and carry forward the spirit of unity and joy into the new year, which is a landmark for the club.He said: “This year is a landmark year for us. It is the 75th year of the existence of our Club. We plan to celebrate the historic milestone with exciting and meaningful events. At the appropriate time, we will be inviting our well-wishers and indeed the public to join us members, in the celebration of the illustrious journey of the foremost family club in West Africa.”Adewunmi further said the leadership of the Club, the members of the Management Council in collaboration with the members of the Board of Trustees will continue to do their best to place the club on the pedestal befitting of its status.There were lots of fun, food, drinks throughout the time of celebration.
