The Ikoyi Club is gearing up for a month of exciting events that showcase its commitment to fostering youth development, international relations, and of course, a love for sports.On May 4th, the pool at Ikoyi Club came alive with the 7th edition of the Zenith Inter-School Swimming Competition.
This annual event, sponsored by Zenith Bank, brings together 15 schools for a day of friendly competition.The competition caters to both primary and secondary schools, taking place on May 4th and 11th respectively. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, emphasizes the bank’s dedication to youth development through such sporting events.
“We expect the kids to enjoy themselves and we promise to make it better every year,” he says.Ikoyi Club’s Tennis Section Chairman, Ikedichi Kanu, highlights the event’s history of unearthing talented young swimmers. “This event will still produce champions for Nigeria in the years ahead,” he enthuses. Kanu also expresses his gratitude to Zenith Bank for their continued support in developing the sport of swimming.
The competition will be overseen by a skilled team led by Ariyo Omowanle, ensuring a smooth and fair event for both primary and secondary school participants. Grange School emerged victorious in both categories of the 2023 edition, setting the bar high for this year’s competitors.
