To ensure adequate water supply and keep the golf course in playable condition at all times, the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 has signed a deal with Julius Berger for comprehensive water irrigation of the course.
According to a report by The Guardian, the project, which will run for ten weeks, was donated by Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association, (IGCNA).
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, Chairman of IGCNA, Wahab Aminu-Sarumi, said one of the major objectives of IGCNA is to support the infrastructural development of the golf section.
While commending the Golf Captain, Meckson Innocent Okoro and his Committee for their progressive disposition, Aminu-Sarumi said the positive partnership between the section and IGCNA helped in contemplating such a big project.
While thanking members of the section for their support for IGCNA over the years, he said the healthy surpluses left behind by former Captain, Ted Iwere and Tony Onwu, is well appreciated.
Club Chairman, Ademola Mumuney, described as heartwarming the decision to engage a reputable company like Julius Berger to rework the club’s irrigation system, saying, “it will go a long way in keeping the course in good shape all the time. We all know how proficient Julius Berger is and we believe they will do a good job.”
Happy at the initiative, Golf Captain, M. I Okoro thanked Aminu-Sarumi led IGCNA executive, saying the section will always appreciate their contributions to the development of its facilities.
