The second Nigeria Oil and Gas Invitational Golf Tournament which took place at the IBB Golf and Country Club in Abuja has ended.The Ladies Captain of the IBB Golf and Country Club won the Ladies Best Net Prize at the one-day event which attracted top golfers from the hydrocarbon industry in the nation’s capital.
After hours of exciting action at the IBB Golf and Country Club in Abuja, Okey Igwe smiled home with the Gross Trophy having shot the best score on the course.
Igwe who played up handicap five, shooting a gross of 77 to win the top prize expressed excitement over the achievement.
Lamine Ahmed who emerged champion in the best net lady category by playing off handicap 25, shooting a gross of 99 and a net of 74 was obviously thrilled with her performance.
Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engineer Simbi Wabote who expressed satisfaction with the standard of the competition, promised more improvements in subsequent editions.
The South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Young-Chae who was part of the ceremonial tee-off was pleased with the standard of play.
Other winners in the competition include Mary-Rose Obiorah who won the ladies’ longest drive with handicap 21, shooting a distance of 225 meters and Dennis Osubu, the longest drive men playing handicap 8 and shot a distance of 252 meters.
The nearest pin trophy for the player who shot closest to hole 16 went to Okey Igwe as category 8 to 15 was won by Joey Zazza who played handicap 21, shooting a gross of 93 and net 72 while that of 0 to 14 went to Oladotun Isiaka who played off handicap 11 with a gross shot under course par of handicap 79 and net 68.
