The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed the vital role of premier social institutions, particularly the Lagos Country Club in driving sustainable development, civic engagement, and social harmony across the state. This position was emphasized by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamza, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Lagos Country Club at the State Secretariat, Alausa.

Dr. Hamzat described the Club as an indispensable partner in the State’s socioeconomic advancement, noting that Lagos thrives when institutions with strong professional, social, and intellectual capital contribute meaningfully to public policy and community development.

According to him, “Institutions like the Lagos Country Club remain strategic to our development ecosystem. Their collective insight, professional expertise, and longstanding influence in society offer valuable perspectives that can help strengthen governance and further advance the Greater Lagos vision.”
He further pledged that the State Government would continue to create platforms through which the administration can engage, collaborate, and draw feedback from credible social institutions whose members reflect a broad spectrum of the Lagos population.

In response, the President of the Lagos Country Club, Mr. Seyi Adewunmi, expressed gratitude for the government’s consistent support toward the Club’s expansion and modernization efforts. He highlighted the Club’s evolution beyond a recreational center into a non-state development actor actively contributing to social stability, civic consciousness, economic development, and the preservation of shared values.

Mr. Adewunmi noted that the Club’s impact initiatives, ranging from community outreach, youth development programs, and cultural integration activities to the promotion of inter-tribal unity, continue to complement the State Government’s goals of building a secure, inclusive, and orderly society.

He reaffirmed the Club’s commitment to deeper collaboration with the Lagos State Government in areas such as social cohesion, policy advisory support, community development, and civic enlightenment, stressing that the Club stands ready to play an even more significant role in shaping a better Lagos for all.

The meeting ended with mutual assurances of strengthened ties and expanded cooperation, signaling a renewed chapter of partnership between the Lagos Country Club and the Lagos State Government in pursuit of a more prosperous and socially stable Lagos.
