ICAN Presents Tajudeen Akande 2022 Merit Award

President of Business Club Ikeja and the immediate Past President of Lagos Country Club, Chief Tajudeen Akande, FCA has added to his streak of recognitions with the 2022 ICAN Merit Award presented to him at the weekend by President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Mrs. Comfort Olu Eyitayo, FCA. 

Chief Akande, who is also a prominent member of the exclusive Metropolitan Club, was presented the award at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos where accountancy icons and captains of industry converged to celebrate excellence. Dignitaries from several social clubs also attended to give Akande the deserved support. 

President of the institute, Mrs. Comfort Eyitayo, said the award was in recognition of excellence and immense contribution to the Accountancy profession in Nigeria. She said Akande has been a worthy partner to ICAN. She said the collaboration received from PKF would go a long way in advancing the aims and objectives of the institute. 

Akande, who is a Fellow of ICAN,  is also Fellow, Chartered Taxation Institute of Nigeria (FCTI); Fellow, Institute of Directors (F.loD) and Associate of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners (ABR).

In September 2016, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Benin for contributions to the Accountancy profession and financial services industry in Nigeria, and was listed on the Faculty Roll of Honour. In February 2021, Tajudeen received the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Department of Accounting, University of Benin for contributions to the accountancy profession in Nigeria.

He obtained a B.Sc Accounting from the University of Benin, M.Sc Finance from the University of Leicester, UK. He also attended the Lagos Business School, Nigeria and the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts.

Tajudeen started his career with Messrs Akintola Williams & Co (Now Deloitte) in 1988, and moved to PKF in December 1993, rising through the ranks to become the Managing partner/ CEO of PKF Nigeria. He served as a Director on the PKF International Africa Region Board between 2013 and 2021. He is the International Liaison Partner for PKF International network in Nigeria, and the Chairman of PKF West Africa sub-region.
