The Ikoyi Club 1938 is sustaining its well-established Easter tradition – the Junior Tennis Clinic. This year marks the sixth iteration of the program, offering a fun and educational opportunity for young members to develop their tennis skills.Commencing on the 2nd of April 2024, the Easter Holiday Junior Tennis Clinic holds for five days, culminating on April 6th. The program caters to children of club members, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie amongst the younger generation. Leadway Assurance serves as a proud sponsor of the event.Azubuike Okonkwo, Captain of the Tennis Section, expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting the dual focus on learning and enjoyment.

“We are excited to see the children coming together to not only learn the fundamentals of the game but also participate in a friendly competition at the conclusion of the clinic.”The Tennis Section Chairman, Diran Famakinwa, is a strong advocate for the program, according to Assistant Head Coach Christian Agbim. Agbim assured participants that a team of experienced coaches is prepared to impart their knowledge and guide the young players effectively.

This year’s clinic boasts of a structured format with four distinct age categories for both boys and girls: 5-7 years old, 8-10 years old, 11-13 years old, and 14-16 years old. Each group will receive tailored instruction that caters to their developmental stage.The Lady Captain, Mrs. Oluwawemimo Ogunsanya, underscored the program’s long-term vision. “Our objective is to identify talent at a young age,” she explained. “We are optimistic that this clinic/tournament can be a breeding ground for future champions. Of course, we also want to ensure the children have a delightful experience that embodies the spirit of Easter.
