Ikoyi Club’s Sunday Olapade clinched victory in the second Custodian Golf Classic held at the Lakowe Lakes Golf Club in Lagos, marking his debut win on the Professional Golf Developmental Tour.Olapade displayed exceptional skill, carding impressive rounds of 73, 68, and 73 (214), finishing two under par to claim the coveted N3 million top prize in the 54-hole competition.Olapade attributed his success to dedication and hard work, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to emerge victorious in such a competitive field.

He sealed his victory with a decisive putt at Lakowe.Former Nigerian top-ranked player Kamalu Bako, who surged ahead with a remarkable opening round of 68, ultimately secured second place, trailing Olapade by four strokes. Francis Epe, the current PGD Tour leader, settled for third place with a score of 224, four over par.Ghana’s Augustine Manasseh led the international contingent, finishing at 222 (+6) after three rounds, tying for fourth place alongside George Inalegwu from Otukpo.Wole Oshin, Group Managing Director of Custodian Investment, emphasized the company’s commitment to nurturing professional golf talent in Nigeria through events like the Custodian Golf Classic. He highlighted the tournament’s increased purse of N20 million, responding to heightened interest from foreign players and demonstrating the growing appeal of the PGD Tour.
